Formal Grievance - Step 2. A. If the grievant is not satisfied with the decision rendered pursuant to Step 1, the grievant may appeal the decision to the Director or his/her designee as the second level of appeal. This appeal must be postmarked within ten (10) days from the postmark of the Step 1 decision. Within fifteen (15) days after the appeal is postmarked, the Department head or designee as the second level of appeal shall respond in writing to the grievance. If the Department does not respond timely or does not secure an extension from an IUOE representative (requests for extension will not be unreasonably denied), IUOE may appeal directly to the Board of Adjustment (BOA).
