For International Students a deferral will result in us withdrawing sponsorship and your leave being curtailed. When you are ready to recommence your studies, you will need to reapply for a CAS. For International Students. I must apply for and receive an Employment Authorization (Co-op work permit), which will legally entitle me to work in Canada on a registered work term, and as an International Student I must apply for and receive a Social Insurance Number in order to work in Canada.

International Co-op students must provide their Co-op employers with copies of proof of eligibility to work in Canada—copy of valid Co-op Work Permit and SIN are generally required. International students who have accepted Co-op job offers may be removed from their work term position if they cannot show proof that the necessary employment documents and permits have been acquired. International Co-op students must provide the International Centre with copies of their valid International Co-op Work permit. Under no circumstances should an international student begin a Co-op position, if this has not been completed.

For International Students. International students will abide by the rules and regulations associated with their visa type when traveling internationally, which is described by Northwestern University's International Office: xxxx://xxx.xxxxxxxxxxxx.xxx/international/living-working/travel-restrictions/index.html. Failure to follow these requirements could result in detention by the Customs & Border Patrol (CBP). Northwestern has no authority to intervene in actions taken by the CBP. Such detentions can be lengthy and could result in missed flights/connections; group travel involving international students who are detained by federal authorities will proceed as scheduled. Any additional expenses incurred as a result of any delays related to detention will be the responsibility of the student.
