Notice For a period of time off of five days or 10 more, a nurse shall request of the supervisor to schedule time off by submitting a 11 request in writing a maximum of six months in advance of the calendar month in 12 which the initial date of the requested ETO occurs. The Hospital will respond in 13 writing to such request no later than 15 weekdays after the date of the receipt of 14 the request. Preference for available time off will be given to the request received 15 on the earliest date, Monday through Friday. In the event two or more nurses 16 request the same period of time off on the same date, the Hospital will seek to 17 accommodate the requests, but if both requests cannot be accommodated, the 18 senior such nurse shall be given preference. However, the senior nurse cannot 19 exercise this preference more than once in a two year period. The Hospital will 20 continue its practice of circulating request forms for the Christmas, Thanksgiving, 21 and New Year's holidays and rotating time off on those holidays unless the 22 nurses in the unit agree in their unit guidelines to an alternative holiday 23 scheduling system. If the alternate holiday system cannot reasonably be 24 implemented by the staffing office, the Association and the Hospital shall meet to 25 resolve the problem.
