Fire Investigator. Weekend fire investigations will be handled by an "On-Call" Investigator. Fire Investigators will work respective weekend on-call shifts based on the rotating ‘On-Call” schedule from 6:00 p.m. Friday to 7:00 a.m. the following Monday. In order to be eligible for on-call pay, the on-call Fire Investigator must be able to respond to the Fire Department within one (1) hour of the initial call or page. An on-call list will be kept up- to-date at the Fire Department, each station, and at Sparks Police Dispatch. If any changes occur during the Fire Investigator’s weekend on-call shift, the employee shall notify each agency of the change. Effective the first full pay period following October 14, 2002, the weekend on-call Fire Investigator shall be compensated for on-call time at the rate of one-fourth (1/4th) hour pay at the regular hourly rate for each one (1) hour period of on- call time. If an Investigator is called to active duty while on-call, the Investigator shall be paid in accordance with Section 2, Article C of this Agreement. All hours prior to and following the active duty shall be paid at the on-call rate. In no instance will an Investigator be paid both on-call pay and stand-by pay concurrently.
Fire Investigator. Any employee holding the position of Battalion Chief or Division Chief who is certified as a Fire Investigator shall be compensated an additional two and one-half percent (2.5%) of the employee’s base monthly salary (Fire Investigator Premium). The criteria to be certified as a Fire Investigator included obtaining the following certifications: California State Fire Marshal Investigation 1A and 1B; and PC 832 Arrest, Search and Seizure. To the extent applicable and permitted by law, this pay shall be reportable to CalPERS as special compensation or pensionable compensation pursuant to Title 2, Sections 571 and 571.1 of the California Code of Regulations.

Fire Investigator completion of all the requirements for the rank of Fire Driver/Operator; and TCFP Fire Inspector Certification or equivalent as determined by TCFP; TCFP Fire Investigator Certification or equivalent as determined by TCFP; TCOLE Basic Peace Officer Training and certification, or the ability to complete within one (1) year of assignment to that role.
Fire Investigator. An associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
Fire Investigator. Employees in this unit shall receive a 1% educational incentive on base pay after attaining Fire Investigator I requirements (fire investigations 1A and 1B). An employee who completes the Fire Investigator II requirements (fire investigations 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B and PC 832) will receive 2.5% of base pay. These benefits are not stackable. Employees must successfully complete the initial 18 month probationary period to be eligible for payment.
