Fifty Meter (50m. Strips The Fifty Meter Strips are situated adjacent to the aprons and run along the taxi ways coming from the main airport building as well as along the main runway. The fifty meter strips has the same scope of work as the rest of the field but with more cutting cycles per annum. The cutting height is 150mm to 200mm and 8 cycles per annum are recommended. See Annexure 3 for a map on the fifty meter strips and related attributes. All Fifty meter strips must be cut during the three days of night shift. Unwanted weeds and invader plants must be removed manually or by selective chemical treatment or a combination of the two. The fifty meter strips cover an area of 31 hectares.
