Field Training Officers. The position of Field Training Officer (FTO) shall be held by a Trooper or Sergeant who most closely meets the requirements set forth by the Employer which are outlined in policy OSP-501.08. If the Employer determines there are an insufficient number of qualified volunteers, it may appoint other individuals to be FTOs. The District Commander shall make the final selections. A supplement of eight hundred dollars ($800.00) shall be given to all FTOs for the sixty (60) working day training period. This amount will be prorated in instances where the training period is cut short or lengthened. Field Training Officers and their trainees will be required to work twenty (20) days on each of the three shifts during the training period.
Field Training Officers. The employer reserves the right to designate Field Training Officers. Field Training Officers shall have the responsibility to assist in the training of new employees under the direction of the Supervisor. Field Training Officers shall receive $30.00 per pay. Performance reviews shall be done every twenty-four (24) months.
Field Training Officers. Effective December 14, 2008, any sworn member designated by the Police Chief to work as a Field Training Officer (FTO) (or as called by any other name) shall receive compensation in addition to their regular rate of pay during the period in which FTO duties are deemed necessary by the Police Chief and are actually being performed. Two forms of additional compensation shall be made. First, one hour pay at one and one half (1-1/2) times the employee's regular salary rate for each day FTO duties are deemed necessary. Any FTO working at least four (4) hours of FTO duties will receive this compensation. Effective at the beginning of the first pay period after 10/1/19, if an FTO is required to complete two daily observation reports during one tour of duty, for training a second Probationary Police Officer for at least four (4) hours, that FTO will receive two hours pay at one and one half (1-1/2) times the employee’s regular salary rate. Second, special assignment pay at the rate of sixty five cents ($.65) per hour shall be made to an FTO for each hour during which the FTO duties are deemed necessary. Members must be designated in advance by the Police Chief or his/her designee.

Effective with the pay period which includes July 1, 2016, a supplement of $13.33 per day shall be given to all Sergeant Training Officers (STOs) for the initial ten (10) working day training period and for each subsequent monthly training day for the duration of the one hundred and eighty (180) day new sergeant probationary period. This amount will be prorated in instances where the training period is cut short or lengthened.
Field Training Officers. The employer agrees to pay field training officers one (1) hour of overtime per day when working with trainees. Field training officers must be working with the trainees on the date(s) for which they will be paid.
Field Training Officers. The Field Training Officer shall be compensated for training responsibilities in the amount of one (1) hour of Compensatory Time for each day when he or she engages in field training duties of four (4) hours or more.
Field Training Officers. Designated Field Training Officers shall receive one dollar ($1.00) per hour added to the base when actively training a probationary trooper on field training status. Management shall determine the number and composition of Field Training Officers, as well as the length and content of the formal Field Training Program.

Such compensation shall be two (2) hours per week of compensatory time at one and one half (1-1/2) time the employee's regular salary rate. Field Training Officers. (FTO): Custody, clerks and animal control officers who are assigned to FTO responsibilities training regular full-time trainees for at least one week’s duration during the pay period shall receive an additional four (4) hours pay per pay period at the employee’s straight time rate of pay extending from the pay period that the trainees are assigned until two successive pay periods following the completing of training. This pay shall not apply to employees assigned for orientation purposes. Custody, clerks and animal control officers training part-time employees shall receive 2.5 hours of straight time compensatory time off for each forty (40) hours of training. This comp time shall not be accumulated while receiving FTO premium pay.
