Family Illness and Bereavement Leave. 14.2.1 Leave necessitated by the critical illness or the death of a spouse, child, parent, brother, brother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, parent of spouse, son in law, daughter in law, grandparents, grandchildren, or a member of the teacher's household, shall be granted by the Superintendent of Schools with salary and benefits:

Family Illness and Bereavement Leave. A. Any employee who works at least 4 hours per day on a regularly scheduled basis for at least one year shall qualify for Family and Medical Leave under the other federal and state rules applicable to such leave. The District shall allow up to five (5) days of paid leave, in addition to sick leave, for family members with a serious health condition qualifying for FMLA. These days may also be used for parental bonding under the same terms as Section 3.15.3 below. Unused leave under this section shall not accumulate from year to year.
Family Illness and Bereavement Leave. 41 In the event of illness in the immediate family of an employee, accumulated sick leave may be utilized. 43 Bereavement occasioned by death in the immediate family of an employee will constitute basis for 44 utilization of five (5) days of paid leave at or near the time of death which will not be subtracted from 45 sick leave or any other leave. One (1) day may be used for other family members not included in the 46 immediate family definition to be used once per school year. Bereavement may be extended upon prior 47 approval of two (2) additional days because of extenuating circumstances. 1 Employees’ accrued sick leave may be used to care for a child of the employee with a health condition 2 that requires treatment or supervision. Use of leave other than accrued sick leave to care for a child 3 under the circumstances described in this section shall be governed by the terms of the appropriate 4 collective bargaining agreement or employer policy as applicable.
Family Illness and Bereavement Leave. 18.3.2 Leave granted under clause 18.3.1(a) will terminate in the event of death of the person identified in clause 18.3.1 and the teacher will then be eligible for leave under clause 18.3.1(b). Leaves referred to in clauses 18.3.1(a) and (b) shall be taken within a two week period of the actual occurrence of the critical illness or death. Leave under 18.3.1(c) shall be taken within a three week period one year of the actual occurrence of the critical illness and death.

A maximum of eight (8) days’ leave shall be allowed for each death of son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in- law, sister-in-law, grandmother, grandfather, granddaughter, grandson, or significant others. Up to one (1) day of leave shall be allowed for each death of a personal friend in order to attend a funeral. Concurrent deaths shall be treated as a single occurrence with respect to the length of leave granted. Family illness and bereavement leave shall not be deducted from sick leave. Payment for leaves under this provision shall be in accordance with the employee's regular rate of pay and the regular number of hours worked per shift.
Family Illness and Bereavement Leave. The Superintendent shall grant emergency leave with pay up to five days per school year, said days to be deducted from accumulation sick leave days. Additional emergency leave may be granted only on approval of the District. Emergency leave shall be granted for illness or death in the immediate family or close friend. Immediate family shall be interpreted as: husband, wife, child, grandparents, mother, father, brother, sister, mother-in-law, father-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, or grandchildren.

  • Family Illness Leave In the event of illness in the immediate family, an employee shall be granted up to three (3) days of absence without loss of salary to be deducted from sick leave. The immediate family shall be construed to mean father, mother, son, daughter, wife, husband, brother, sister, mother-in-law, father-in-law, son-in-law, or daughter-in-law. A statement from a responsible person other than the employee may be required as proof of illness.

  • Bereavement Leave (a) Upon the death of an employee's spouse, spouse to include same sex partner, child or stepchild, an employee shall be granted leave up to a maximum of five (5) continuous calendar days without loss of pay. One of the days of leave shall include the day of the funeral or equivalent service. Additional days off with or without pay may be granted by the Employer. Part-time employees will be credited with seniority and service for all such leave. In the event of a delayed interment or ceremony for reason of religion or other protected grounds under the Ontario Human Rights Code, an Employee may save one of the days identified above without loss of pay to attend the interment or ceremony.

  • Paid Bereavement Leave 12.19.1 An Employee shall be granted a minimum of five (5) regularly scheduled consecutive work days, without loss of pay or benefits, in the case of death or serious illness of the Employee's spouse or common-law spouse.

  • Family Leave 1. An Appointing Authority shall grant to a full time or part time employee who has completed his/her probationary period, or if there is no such probationary period, has been employed for at least three consecutive months, an unpaid leave of absence for up to twenty-six (26) weeks in conjunction with the birth, adoption or placement of a child as long as the leave concludes within twelve (12) months following the birth or placement.

  • Family Sick Leave An employee may use sick leave credits for family illness or injury only if the employee must provide direct care to an immediate family member. For purposes of family sick leave, “immediate family member” will mean the employee’s parent, spouse, or child, including step-child and xxxxxx child.

  • BEREAVEMENT/TANGIHANGA LEAVE 15.1 The employer shall approve special bereavement leave on pay for an employee to discharge any obligation and/or to pay respects to a deceased person with whom the employee has had a close association. Such obligations may exist because of blood or family ties or because of particular cultural requirements such as attendance at all or part of a Tangihanga (or its equivalent). The length of time off shall be at the discretion of the employer.

  • Family Medical Leave or Critical Illness Leave a) Family Medical Leave or Critical Illness leaves granted to a permanent Teacher or long-term Occasional Teacher under this Article shall be in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Standards Act, 2000, as amended.

  • Bereavement Leave With Pay For the purpose of this Article, immediate family is defined as father, mother (or alternatively step-father, step-mother or xxxxxx parent), brother, sister, spouse (including common-law partner residing with the employee), child (including child of common-law partner), step-child or xxxx of the employee, grandparent, grandchild, father-in-law, or mother-in-law, and any relative permanently residing in the employee’s household or with whom the employee permanently resides.

  • Family Violence Leave Family Violence Leave as provided for by the Holidays Act 2003 is in addition to other leave allowances within the collective agreement.
