Extra Shift Incentive. The Hospital at its sole discretion may designate a shift as Extra Shift Incentive eligible based on critical need, at a rate of time and one-half (1½) the employee’s base rate of pay. Full-time and part-time nurses may sign up for an Extra Shift Incentive shift when a shift remains open after all regular and PRN employees have had the opportunity to meet their obligation to the schedule, and upon designation of that shift as Extra Shift Incen- tive eligible. Shifts will be awarded on a first come first served basis. PRN employees are not eligible for this incentive unless specifically authorized by Hospital Administra- tion. A nurse who fails to work his/her regular schedule due is not eligible for Extra Shift In- centive during that work week. A nurse who fails to work his/her regular scheduled shift due to involuntary low census is eligible for Extra Shift Incentive. Nurses scheduled for such shifts will be the first to be cancelled or called off in the event of low census. In times of extraordinary need, the Hospital at its sole discretion may temporarily in- crease this incentive to time and one-half (1½) the employee’s base rate of pay, plus an additional twenty dollars ($20.00) per hour.
