Evaluation of the Superintendent. The Superintendent shall be evaluated twice during the first contract year and once during each subsequent contract year, unless the Board deems additional evaluations appropriate. The Superintendent shall receive a copy of the evaluation and shall have the right to submit a response to the evaluation, which response shall be placed in the Superintendent’s personnel file. The Superintendent shall notify the President of the Board to remind the Board of the need to evaluate.

Evaluation of the Superintendent. The Board will review the Superintendent’s performance annually. The evaluation instrument shall be in accordance with the requirements of I.C. 20-28-11.5-1 et seq. The evaluation shall be completed by the Board within sixty (60) days of June 30 of each employment year.

The Superintendent must receive a school year evaluation rating of Effective or Highly Effective to be eligible to receive any salary raise or increment for the following school year. The Superintendent shall not be eligible to receive any salary increase or increment or any performance incentive pay in any school year s/he receives an evaluation of Ineffective or Improvement Necessary.

Before the ABC Committee meets to complete their its evaluation of the Superintendent, the Chairperson from each member of the Boards shall meet with his/her the board of education of his or her district to obtain a common view of the Superintendent's performance, which will then be brought to and considered by the ABC Committee, and communicated to the Superintendent, during the Chairperson's Superintendent’s evaluation report to the Superintendent. Each of the Boards will be provided access to any written evaluation of the Superintendent.

The Superintendent shall follow these same steps during the appropriate months in order to ensure the board conducts the second evaluation during her first year of employment. The Superintendent shall remind the Board of the second evaluation requirement at least monthly and shall ensure that the evaluation is conducted no later than the Board’s regular June meeting.

The Board and Superintendent recognize that a carefully developed and implemented evaluation process is a valuable part of Board and Superintendent communications. As such, during the first year of employment, the Superintendent agrees to meet with the Board within his first ninety (90) days of employment to discuss and set his goals and expectations. Further, a mid-year progress meeting should occur within the following ninety (90) days. Finally, a progress update should occur at the end of his first school year. Thereafter, based on the agreed upon goals, expectations, and aligned metrics, the Board shall evaluate and assess, in writing, the performance of the Superintendent once per year, generally no later than November l of each year, during the term of this Contract.
