Employees on Long Term Disability shall have coverage for insured fringe benefits for one (1) month for each month of service prior to the commencement of the absence, giving rise to the long-term disability claim.

Employees on Long Term Disability. 25.1 An employee who has been on LTD and absent from work for less than twenty-four (24) consecutive months will return to the same position held by the employee immediately prior to the commencement of the LTD period, if the position still exists, provided the employee has not been displaced in accordance with the provisions of Article 20 (Staffing) and is capable of performing the essential duties of the job as certified by a qualified medical practitioner. If the position no longer exists or if the employee has been displaced, the employee may exercise seniority rights in accordance with the provisions of Article 20 (Staffing).

Employees on Long Term Disability. Grid Placement For the purpose of a future return to active employment, employees who are currently absent from work because of long term disability shall be placed at the grid step that is at the next highest salary rate above current salary (i.e. this does not impact upon their current level of LTD benefits). Upon return to work, the employee shall be paid the effective salary rate for that grid step and shall resume grid progression upon the first anniversary date of his return to active employment.
