Common use of EMPLOYEE CATEGORIES Clause in Contracts

EMPLOYEE CATEGORIES. All employees covered by this Agreement shall be considered full-time employees of the Authority, except as hereinafter provided. They shall be probationary employees for a period of three (3) months from the date of their employment. The Authority may extend the probationary period up to a total of six (6) months from the date of hiring, in which event, the employee and the Union will be given written notice prior to the end of the probationary period stating the reason(s) for such extension. The probationary period shall be extended by a number of working days equal to any period(s) of absence. Each new employee shall be afforded sufficient time for job orientation purposes, including familiarization with the Collective Agreement and TVOntario’s Policies and Procedures, at the beginning of the probationary period. During the probationary period or any extension of the probationary period, the Authority may release the employee at any time provided that such release has not been arbitrary, discriminatory nor exercised in bad faith.
