Electronic Business. A generic term covering information definition and exchange requirements within and between enterprises, including customers. Electronic Data Interchange (EDI): The automated exchange of any predefined and structured data for business among information systems of two or more organizations. (Open-edi Reference Model Standard - ISO/IEC 14662). EDI message: an approved, published, and maintained formal description of how to structure the data required to perform a specific business function, in such a way as to allow for the transfer and handling of this data by electronic means. Functional Service View (FSV): a perspective of business transactions limited to those information technology interoperability aspects of IT Systems needed to support the execution of Open-edi transactions.
