ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES. The operation and maintenance of electrical appliances are the full responsibility of the student.
ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES. All electrical appliances connected to The Owner’s supply must be certificated in accordance with the statutory requirements for portable electrical appliances used at public events details (PAT tested) of which can be obtained from The Owner if required. All cables must be properly protected to avoid causing a hazard to others. The use of deep fat fryers or any other electric or gas deep fat fryers are expressly prohibited.
ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES. Due to fire regulations, cooking in student rooms is not permitted. Residence Life staff members are authorized to remove all devices which they deem, in their discretion, to be dangerous. Students wishing to cook in the residence halls may do so only in designated kitchen areas. Refrigerators no more than 4.0 cubic ft. may be used in the rooms. Irons which are UL approved, in good repair and which have a thermostatic control, may also be used in student rooms. Air conditioning units, space heaters, toasters ovens, open coiled burners, air fryers, Xxxxxx Xxxxxxx grills, and microwave ovens (with the exception of the microfridge units) are not permitted in student rooms. Additionally, halogen lamps are prohibited in student rooms. Failure to comply with these regulations will result in a $50 fine. For suite-style housing only (Living Center, Senior Suites and Townhouses) UL approved appliances such as microwaves, coffee makers, popcorn poppers, toasters, toaster ovens, electric/portable grills or skillets, crock-pots, rice cookers, vegetable steamers, etc. are permitted, within the kitchen areas only, and must be plugged directly into the wall. Deep fryers, air fryers, halogen lamps, as well as plastic lamp shades are not permitted. Use or possession of open flame appliances is prohibited in all on-campus housing.
ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES. No appliances containing open heating elements may be used in student bedrooms or any room other than a kitchen as they pose distinct fire hazards and may exceed the capacity of existing electrical circuits. Prohibited appliances include and are not limited to: hot plates, coffee makers, electric grills, space heaters, toasters, and toaster ovens. Compact, personal- sized refrigerators are permitted. Apartment-sized or full size appliances are never permitted in student rooms, self-contained kitchen/common areas, or building common areas with the exception of those provided and maintained by the College. Students who live in units with a self-contained kitchen may use personal kitchen appliances (e.g. coffee maker, toaster) within the kitchen area. Microwave ovens (other than units available through the College-designated Rental Program or provided and maintained by the College) are not permitted except in units with self-contained kitchens when used in the kitchen area. Air conditioners are not permitted in College residences without approval through the established process. Air conditioners must be installed and removed by the Facilities Operations staff only.

Individual air conditioning units and space heaters are prohibited. Hookahs. The possession, storage, or use of hookahs in University Housing Facilities is prohibited. Lamps and Lighting. Non-LED lights, such as halogen and incandescent halogen and torchiere-style lamps, as well as non-LED decorative string lights, are prohibited in University Housing Facilities. Strobe lights are also prohibited.

ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES. Irons and other items of this nature can usually be borrowed. Each suite has a refrigerator and hotplate in the kitchen. A color TV and conventional oven are located in each basement recreation room. Due to our location, television cable service is necessary. Cable outlets are not available for individual use. Students may not have personal refrigerators, air conditioners, swamp coolers, space heaters, microwave ovens, or other large appliances in their rooms or suites, unless special permission is granted by the vice president for student life. FOOD OUTSIDE OF THE SUITE Food and beverages may be consumed in the suite area, recreation room, and parlor. Residents are responsible for cleaning up after snacking and should something be spilled, the costs for cleaning furniture or carpets. GUESTS

Limited electrical appliances are allowed in the Hangar, including portable fans, televisions, refrigerators, radios, dehumidifiers, engine heaters, powered tow-bars, battery trickle chargers, and small air compressors. Prohibited appliances include, but are not limited to, air conditioners, electric heaters, hot plates, heat lamps, and stoves. Any appliance not having an explosion-proof motor, which generates a glow, flame, or spark, must be elevated at least eighteen (18) inches above the floor. No appliances, except refrigerators, dehumidifiers, battery trickle chargers, and engine heaters may remain connected to any electrical receptacle when the Hangar is not occupied. UFC 8506.1
