Educational Sabbatical Leave. After ten (10) years of service employees shall be eligible for leave for job-related studies during which time the employee's position will be held open for his/her return in accordance with the leaves of absence provisions of this Agreement. If the employee remains on the job for two (2) years after completing the sabbatical, the employee shall be reimbursed in whole or in part for tuition incurred during the educational leave in accordance with the last paragraph of this section, provided the course of study is completed satisfactorily. A joint committee will be established consisting of three (3) members -- one Union, one Management, and one lay person designated by the appropriate Personnel Committee -- to determine in advance eligibility for this leave, taking into account the operational needs of the Employer, and the extent to which there shall be tuition reimbursement.
