Education Act 2002. Section 175 - A local education authority shall make arrangements for ensuring that the functions conferred on them in their capacity as a local education authority are exercised with a view to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Education Act 2002. 2.3.1. Section 175 of this Act places a duty on both the Education Provider and the LA to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. The LA’s ability to fulfil this role is dependent on ongoing receipt of core pupil data from Education Providers to ensure properly informed decisions are reached.
