E Program Grant. Action plans created at the LSUA Healthcare Workforce Development Summit were a strong match with objectives identified by The Rapides Foundation for the Future of HealthC.A.R.E Program (p.2): Increase awareness and exposure to healthcare occupations; Prepare students for the academic rigor of healthcare training programs; and Increase or build technical skills needed to work in healthcare occupations. Partnerships among key stakeholders were encouraged and led to collaboration between LSUA School of Nursing and Rapides Parish School Board to offer nurse aide training at Region 6 high schools in The Rapides Foundation service area. After reviewing the letter of intent submitted for this project, The Rapides Foundation has invited LSUA to submit a full proposal. ▇▇. ▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇, LSUA Director School of Nursing and ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇, Supervisor of Career and Technical Education, have ongoing meetings to work on the full proposal which will include a request to fund instructor salaries and development of skills labs for training. The Rapides Foundation has requested a MOU from each partner organization. The CNA program will provide high school students with an opportunity to attain knowledge, skills, and dispositions required to work as a CNA in CENLA healthcare agencies. Students completing the program will be eligible to take the competency examination required to obtain certification in the state of Louisiana.
