Duties and functions. a. Subject to the provisions of this Agreement, in the areas under Palestinian jurisdiction the duties of the Palestinian Police shall be as follows: 1. performing normal police functions, including maintaining internal security and public order; 2. protecting the public and its property and acting to provide a feeling of security and safety; 3. adopting all measures necessary for preventing crime in accordance with the law; and 4. protecting public installations and places of special importance.
