Demotion Step Placement Clause Samples
The Demotion Step Placement clause defines the process and criteria for assigning an employee to a new pay step or grade following a demotion. Typically, this clause outlines how the employee's new salary is determined, such as placing them at the step closest to, but not exceeding, their previous pay, or specifying a set reduction in pay. Its core function is to ensure a fair and transparent method for adjusting compensation after a demotion, thereby providing consistency and clarity for both employees and employers.
Demotion Step Placement. Employees who voluntarily or involuntarily demote to a lower classification shall be placed on the appropriate salary range for the lower classification and then to that step that gets the employee closest to his/her former classification’s hourly salary rate without receiving an increase in salary.
