December 2019. 3. According to the Working Hours Act, exceptions to the weekly free time may be made if an employee is temporarily needed for work during free time. If an em- ployee has worked during weekly free time, he or she must be compensated for the weekly free time missed. This is done by reducing the employee’s regular working hours by the number of hours not received as weekly free time. This reduction must be made within three months of performing the work in question, unless oth- erwise agreed. By the employee’s consent, compensa- tion for such work may also be in cash. The amount of compensation per hour is equal to the basic amount of overtime compensation. Compensation in cash does not have an effect on the employee’s right to possible overtime or Sunday pay, if the work performed during the employee’s weekly free time also counts as overtime or Sunday work.
