Daily Rest. Period Every worker is entitled to a daily rest period of at least eight consecutive hours. Daily Rest a) Every employee shall benefit from and must take a rest period of at least 8 consecutive hours in any 24-hour period, except when public health and safety are threatened.
Daily Rest. An employee shall have a daily rest period per 24 hours of no less than 11 hours. When the daily rest period is shortened, the employee shall be guar- anteed appropriate compensation. Weekly rest periods One daily rest period shall for every seven-day period be extended by 24 hours to a weekly rest period of 35 hours. This weekly rest period may be shortened to no less than 24 hours. When a weekly rest period is short- ened, the employee shall be guaranteed appropriate compensation. Night work The regular working hours for a night worker shall not exceed an average of eight hours for every 24-hour period on average per annum. Night work means at least three hours of regular working time scheduled between 11 pm and 6 am. Regular weekly working time shall amount to at most 35 hours on average over a 4-week period for permanent night work. Permanent night work means that an employee works only at night and not during the daytime and that the night work is carried out on average five times a week over a 4-week period. Note: Sections 6, 12, 15 and 17 of the Working Hours Act are applicable.

For the purposes of this provision, a day is a 24 hour period starting with the commencement of the first piece of work . Daily Rest. The employer will provide each driver the amount of hours of rest between shift assignments as required by the Department of Transportation’s rules, however, in no event will a driver receive less than eight (8) hours of rest between shift assignments. A driver who has not had the required amount of rest as defined by D.O.T. rules, but in no event less than eight (8) hours from the time he actually ceased working (punched out) may refuse additional assignments until the expiration of the required amount of rest pursuant to DOT rules but in no event less than eight ten (108) hours. If a driver refuses an assignment prior to the expiration of the required amount of rest as determined by D.O.T., but in no event less than eight ten (108) hours, no casual driver will be assigned to accept the assignment refused, but a junior regular driver may be assigned the refused run without a bypass obligation. Notwithstanding the above language on Daily Rest, the employer may call to notify a driver of a schedule start time prior to the expiration of the rest period and there shall be no holding of work. Formatted: Not Highlight In the event hours of rest are changed to eight (8) hours, then all drivers within their shift will have an option for either eight (8) hours or ten (10) hours of rest between the time he actually ceased working (punched out) and his next regular starting time due to being off the clock for ten (10) hours. A Driver opting for ten (10) hours off the clock shall not have work held for him nor shall he be entitled to be paid for any hours he may miss from his regular starting time due to being off the clock for ten (10) hours.
Daily Rest. Except when the local parties have agreed otherwise, salaried employees are entitled to a minimum of 11 hours of continuous free time during each 24-hour period, calculated from the start of the working period in accordance with the applicable work schedule. Deviations from the daily rest period may also be made owing to specific circumstances that could not be confidently planned or determined in advance, or occasionally when circumstances so require. In such cases the salaried employee shall be given an equivalent period of rest in connection with the working period that interrupted the rest period. If this is not possible owing to objective grounds, the extended rest period shall be provided within seven calendar days or within another period agreed upon by the local parties.
