Critical Incident. In the event the act or omission of a sworn officer causes the death or serious injury of another person, the officer's Division Commander shall place the employee on Administrative Leave (with pay) for the seventy-two (72) hours immediately following the incident.

The leave may be extended beyond three days if requested by the Witness Officer and approved by the Chief. The foregoing limitations on the maximum duration of administrative leave shall not apply when:
