Conditions of Leave. The Town Board will specify the duration of an unpaid leave of absence and to impose such other terms, conditions and restrictions on the employee as the Town Board, in its discretion, deems appropriate.
Conditions of Leave. Sabbatical leave may be granted for not less than one full semester, nor for more than one academic year. To be eligible for sabbatical leave during the second semester of a school year, a unit member must have completed a minimum of seventy-five percent (75%) service of all work days scheduled during the first semester. Unit members who are selected for one semester sabbatical leave must take such leave during the second semester, except by mutual consent of the District and the unit member. Unit members granted sabbatical leave shall render a period of service with the District following his/her return from sabbatical leave which is equal to twice the period of his/her sabbatical leave.
Conditions of Leave. 1) An applicant shall agree to return to service with the University for two (2) semesters in the year immediately following expiration of his/her leave; or to refund the compensation paid him/her by the University during his/her leave, unless this obligation is specifically waived or deferred by the University President or his/her designee.
2) An individual on sabbatical leave shall not give, for compensation, personal service unrelated to his/her sabbatical leave project, other than what the University would consider acceptable for a faculty or academic-staff member of the University not on leave. Any service for compensation shall be reported to and must be approved in advance by the President or his/her designee.
3) Formal study for an advanced degree is not normally acceptable as a sabbatical leave project. Exceptions to this regulation require the written approval of the xxxx/director/vice president of the candidate’s School/College/division prior to the filing of the application. For the purpose of meeting the needs of a unit, with the prior written approval of the xxxx/director/vice president, a sabbatical leave application for a professional development project may be filed.
4) Persons on the nine (9)-month payroll are normally granted sabbatical leaves only for the duration of specifically stated whole semesters. Exceptions to this regulation require the written approval of the xxxx/director/vice president prior to the filing of the application.
5) For persons employed on the twelve (12)-month payroll, one
(1) semester of service shall be interpreted to mean four and one-half (4-½) calendar months of service.
6) A written report on what has been achieved relative to the goals of the leave will be submitted to the unit director (usually chair or xxxx) within two (2) months of returning to the University from the leave. The report will be sent to the xxxx and the Xxxxxxx.
Conditions of Leave. 13.9.8.1 A faculty member who requests Family Medical Leave for his or her own serious health condition is required to use all available paid time: accrued sick leave and differential pay of up to five months total leave. A faculty member who requests Family Medical Leave to care for his or her spouse, domestic partner, child, parent or member of the immediate household with a serious medical condition, or for the birth or adoption of a child, may choose to use sick leave to cover the requested leave period. At the exhaustion of all above paid leaves, the remainder of the leave - up to a maximum of twelve weeks - will be unpaid. District paid benefits, if applicable, will continue through the duration of the leave on the condition that the faculty member returns to work after the leave.
Conditions of Leave. The following conditions apply to pregnancy and parental leaves of absence granted under this Agreement:
Conditions of Leave. 1. A faculty member on leave shall file a quarterly report of activities and accomplishments with their Xxxx or Director.
2. Upon completion of the sabbatical leave, the faculty member must return to the employ of the College for a period two (2) times as long as the duration of the leave. The College agrees that the employment offer will be of at least equal status to that held prior to the leave. Any partial sabbatical leave time shall be considered the same as a full 100% leave for required return time (e.g., one (1) term of any percent sabbatical leave time requires two (2) terms of return employment at the College).
3. In the event the faculty member fails to return to the employ of the College, he/she may be required to return any or all of the compensation received from the College during the period of the leave.
Conditions of Leave. An employee who requests medical leave for his or her own serious health condition is required to use all accrued paid leave, including vacation time, sick leave and extended sick leave if applicable concurrently with the Family Medical Leave Act leave. Because Family Medical Leave is limited to twelve workweeks, it is unlikely that an employee will run out of extended sick leave within the duration of this leave.
Conditions of Leave. A. For all employees whose leave shall terminate at the beginning of a school year, a letter of availability must reach the Personnel Office no later than the preceding April 1st. For all employees whose leave shall terminate at times other than the beginning of a school year, such letter of availability must reach the Personnel Office no later than sixty (60) days preceding the termination date of the leave. Failure to comply with this provision shall be interpreted as a resignation of employment. The BOARD will send the teacher a certified letter reminding the teacher of notification requirement, such letter to be sent to the teacher at least thirty (30) days prior to the notification period.
B. A return from leave does not automatically entitle a teacher to a stipend position held prior to the leave.
Conditions of Leave. A. Sabbatical leave shall be granted for not less than one (1) full semester nor for more than two (2) full consecutive semesters. Leave for a fractional part of a semester is not permitted.
B. Unit members who take a semester leave must take such leave during second semester, unless by mutual consent of the principal and unit member. To be eligible for sabbatical leave during the second semester of any school year a unit member must have completed a minimum of sixty-eight (68) days service during the first semester of that school year.
Conditions of Leave. The following conditions will be in force during a sabbatical leave:
a. The applicant shall enter into a contract to continue in the service of the Berkeley Heights Public Schools for a period of at least two (2) years following the expiration of the leave of absence. Upon failure to so comply with the two (2) year service clause, the teacher shall repay to the Berkeley Heights Board of Education a sum bearing the same ratio to the amount of salary received while on leave that the unfilled portion of the two (2) subsequent years of service bears to the full two (2) years. Exceptions to this condition will be made in the case of an employee who has become incapacitated or has been discharged, or has been released for good and sufficient reasons by the Board from this obligation.
b. The salary granted an employee on sabbatical leave shall be as follows:
1. An employee on leave for two (2) full consecutive semesters shall receive 60% of the salary to which he/she would be entitled if not on leave.
2. An employee on leave for one (1) full semester shall receive 50% of the salary to which he/she would be entitled if not on leave. Regular monthly deductions will be made from salary payments including teachers' pension fund and other legally required or employee-authorized deductions.
c. Payment of salary to staff members on sabbatical leave shall be made in accordance with the provisions of the Board in payment of salary to other members of the professional staff. The employee on leave shall be responsible for keeping the Board Secretary's Office informed as to his/her address.
d. Anyone on such leave shall be considered as in the employ of the Board, and the time thus spent shall count as regular service toward retirement and consideration of salary. Such leave of absence shall be without prejudice to the teacher's tenure rights.
e. Teachers on such leave may not associate for monetary compensation with any person, persons, or organization, during the school year unless recommended by the Superintendent and approved by the Board.
f. During the sabbatical leave, policies relating to sick leave, absences, absence for personal reasons, death, etc. shall not apply. Accumulated sick leave benefits will be maintained during such leave and shall become available to the employee together with the annual provisions of this contract upon his/her return to the district.
