Concrete Aggregates. All concrete aggregates (sand & gravel) shall be furnished by the Contractor from any source approved by the Engineer. They shall be free from organic material, lumps of soft material, clay, chalk, lime, peat, loam, soft clayey shale or decomposed stone, vegetable and other impurities that may be harmful to concrete. Sand for concrete shall be free of stones larger than 2 mm and not include significant amounts of silt and clay. If sand, when dried after wetting, adheres together then it shall be considered unsuitable. Gravel for concrete shall be uniformly graded and consist of hard and dense rock. The gravel shall be free of materials finer than 5 mm and the surface shall be clean. Gravel for use in reinforced concrete shall be crushed rock. Generally, crushed rock particles shall be spherical or cubical in shape. The maximum nominal size of the gravel shall be (30) mm in mass concrete, forty (20) mm in structural concrete and twenty (20) mm in other thin concrete structures like slabs.

Concrete Aggregates. Concrete aggregate shall conform to the requirements of subsection 311.2.2 and 311.2.3 under Item 311 of Volume II, (Blue Book) and ASTM C 33 for lightweight aggregates, except that aggregates failing to meet these specifications but which have been shown by special that or actual service to produce concrete of adequate strength and durability may be used under method (2) of determining the proportion of concrete, where authorized by the Engineer. Except as permitted elsewhere in this section, the maximum size of the aggregate shall be not larger than one-fifth (1/5) of the narrowest dimensions between sides of forms of the member for which the concrete is to be used nor larger than three-fourths of the minimum clear spacing between individual reinforcing bars or bundles of bars or pretensioning strands.

  • Self-Funded Leave Plan 26.01 The Self Funded Leave Plan has been developed to afford Employees the opportunity of taking up to one year leave of absence and, through deferral of salary, to finance the leave subject to the regulations under the Income Tax Act.

  • Self-Funded Leave 25.2.1 An employee may apply to participate in the self funded leave plan as permitted under the Income Tax Act (Canada) in order to defer pre-tax salary dollars to fund a leave of absence. The deferral period must be at least one (1) year and not more than four (4) years.

  • Transportation Allowance When an employee is required to travel to the Hospital or to return to her home as a result of reporting to or off work between the hours of 2400 - 0600 hours, (other than reporting to or off work for her regular shift) or any time while on standby, the Hospital will pay transportation costs either by taxi or by her own vehicle at the rate of forty cents (40 cents) per kilometre (to a maximum of fourteen dollars ($14.00) or such greater amount as the Hospital may in its discretion determine for each trip between the aforementioned hours. The employee will provide to the Hospital satisfactory proof of payment of such taxi fare. Where the Hospital requires the employee to travel between sites, the Hospital will pay for transportation costs of forty (40) cents per kilometre unless the Hospital provides transportation between sites.

  • Shift Allowances (a) An Employee whilst on afternoon or night shift must be paid for such shift 15% more than the Employee’s ordinary rate.

  • Safety Footwear Allowance Effective 1/1/07, the Contra Costa Community College District will provide an initial two pairs of safety/protective work boots or shoes for employees in the following classifications: Building Maintenance Worker, Equipment Maintenance Worker, Senior Equipment Maintenance Worker, Maintenance Mechanic, Lead Maintenance Mechanic, Maintenance Assistant, Ground Worker / Gardener I, II, Senior or Lead, Shipping and Receiving Clerk, and all other mutually agreed upon classifications required to wear safety; protective shoes per OSHA/ASTM standards.

  • Collective Bargaining Unit 1.1 The Company recognizes the Union as the sole bargaining agent for all regular, part-time and temporary employees1, but excluding:

  • Safety Shoe Allowance For each unit member required by the City to wear safety shoes, the City shall provide a voucher from the City-designated department for up to one hundred and fifty dollars ($150) annually toward the cost of acquiring one pair of safety shoes through the City vendor.

  • Overtime Banking Employees desiring to bank overtime may elect to do so under the following criteria: * The half time associated to overtime may be banked up to a total of 24 hours per calendar year. This limit may be replenished throughout the year. * Banked time must be taken in full day increments or the employee may elect to receive the pay. * Employees must have cleared or be scheduled to clear their hours account by December 15. (Company will monitor) * Time off will be subject to Company service requirements and no additional cost to the Company. * Implementation of the Overtime Banking arrangement will be subject to the development of an appropriate computer system.

  • Site Allowance All new construction and extension/refurbishment work having a project value in excess of $2.0m will attract the then current City of Melbourne Site Allowance.

  • Shift Allowance In addition to the wage specified in sub-clause (1), read with sub- clause (12), a normal shift worker shall, in respect of his shift hours worked in any week, be paid an additional 12,5% on such wage.
