Common use of Compensation for Overtime Work Clause in Contracts

Compensation for Overtime Work. Overtime work shall be compensated by pay at the rate of time-and-one-half (1.5) of the regular rate of pay. An employee may opt to accrue compensatory time off in lieu of cash payment for overtime worked. The accrual rate of compensatory time shall be one- and-one-half (1.5) hours for every hour of overtime worked. At any time, employees, in their sole discretion, may accumulate up to a maximum of one hundred and twenty (120) hours of compensatory time maintained on a continuous, per pay period basis. Thereafter, the City will compensate employees with overtime pay for all hours of overtime worked beyond the one hundred and twenty (120) hour limit. Employees may request and, subject to approval of the Department Director or designee, use compensatory time off up to the maximum accrual pursuant to this Section.
