Common use of Classroom Coverage Clause in Contracts

Classroom Coverage. A. When an athletic contest or event schedule is available, the District will identify days that require a half-day or full-day substitute. The District will make every effort to schedule those half-day or full-day substitutes for coaches prior to the start of the season or as soon as possible. Teachers who are coaches may be notified as soon as a substitute is procured. Teachers will check with building secretaries to determine who their substitute will be. A substitute may not be called if the coverage is less than one (1) period. B. When substitute coverage is not available: 1. The District will make every effort to keep classes together. 2. Classes may be combined but the class size provisions apply C. In the event that the District is unable to procure a substitute, and a teacher covers another teacher’s class, they may keep track in half period increments with the building secretary through a record that the covering teacher will initial. D. Employees who are asked by an administrator to use their preparation time provided within a student day to cover for another employee’s class, will be compensated at the employees per diem rate of pay for the minutes covered. E. Substitute coverage will be rounded up to the nearest half day and will be paid at the employee’s per diem pay rate of pay on the November, February, and June paychecks.
