Classification Defined. A classification is a subset of a department. Each classification has unique characteristics that distinguish it from all other classifications. A classification may be a subset of a department that provides for vertical movement or the classification may be a subset of a department that does not provide for vertical movement. See Sections B., 1. and B., 2., above.
