Christian Service. “And the king will say to them in reply, ‘Xxxx, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.’” (Xxxxxxx 25: 37-40) The faculty and staff of IC Catholic Prep have always been committed to fostering our student’s talents, gifts, and energies to participate more fully in God’s Kingdom. We encourage our students to become agents of social change by serving the most vulnerable of our world community in the model of our patroness, Xxxx the Immaculate Conception and her Son, Xxxxx Xxxxxx. To enable our students to learn more about our call to put Two Feet of Love in Action, the ICCP Theology Department embeds service learning within its curriculum across all grade levels to apply the content they have learned in the classroom to real-life situations within their communities. Students are then challenged to engage in reflection, discussion, and classroom projects to process their experiences. Ideally, these experiences will root IC Catholic Prep students to a lifelong commitment to putting the Gospel into action through social justice and charitable works. During their time at ICCP, these opportunities will be provided by both the ICCP Theology and Campus Ministry Departments through partnerships various charitable organizations. ICCP has a partnership with MobileServe to provide students with additional service opportunities. MobileServe provides a platform for students to document their service learning experiences with the Campus Ministry Department so they can apply for merit-based scholarships during the college admission process their senior year may do so at the discretion of Campus Ministry.

Christian Service. In order to keep students on track, Christian Service will be scheduled as an “O” Hour class. Each nine week grading period and each semester, students will be required to complete a percentage of their overall hours. Christian Service classes will not have a formal class time. The grade will not count towards Grade Point Averages nor earn a credit, but the class will earn a grade and will be considered a part of no pass, no play guidelines for extracurriculars. Failure to complete required hours each nine weeks means that a student is ineligible to compete in extracurricular activities even if he or she has passed all classes or is otherwise eligible under TAPPS rules. Additionally, failure to complete hours each year will be grounds for asking a student to exit JPIIHS.
Christian Service. At JPIIHS, students are introduced to Xxxxxx’x imperative to serve the needy and the marginalized. We teach this mission and the theology that supports it in the classroom, and through action. Accordingly, we require students in each grade level to participate in our Christian Service program. Supervised by the Christian Service Coordinator, the program complements their academic experience by assisting students to develop an orientation towards Christian service. Each year students volunteer at such service sites as nursing homes, hospitals, soup kitchens, half-way houses, and schools in an effort to reflectively live out what all are commanded to do as Christians.
Christian Service. At JPIIHS, students will complete Christian Service hours each year. Freshmen will complete 10 hours; sophomores will complete 20 hours; juniors will complete 30 hours; and seniors will complete 40 hours. The Christian Service staff will arrange and coordinate numerous opportunities for students to complete hours. But it will be the students’ responsibility to select opportunities, complete the hours, and turn in the required paperwork verifying completion. Service opportunities must be approved by the Coordinator of Christian Service prior to a student earning the hours. The staff will verify completion and record the students’ hours in our Electronic Grade book, where parents and students can monitor progress.
