Common use of Certification Stipend Clause in Contracts

Certification Stipend. The District shall pay an annual stipend to bargaining unit employees who hold the hold the following positions on the first pay period in December. The Fire Chief maintains the authority to determine the number of employees required to maintain these positions and remove an employee for lack of participation or performance, unless it is an elected position as required by state law. Stipends are for the purpose of covering minor duties and responsibilities, communications or activities that are generally fewer than fifteen (15) minutes, which are not included in overtime or 7(g) pay. Examples of minor duties are answering phone calls, responding to texts or emails, or basic coordination of that area of responsibility. This is not intended to replace any hours normally worked off duty for overtime or in 7(g) positions. • $500 Building and Grounds Chairman • $500 Vehicle Maintenance Coordinator • $500 Joint Apprenticeship Committee Member • $500 Foreign Fire Insurance Board President, Secretary, and Treasurer • $500 Medical Officer • $500 Special Team Leaders (Dive, Sonar, Hazmat, Technical Rescue)
