Centres of Excellence. 3.4.1 The Service Provider will provide the Customer with an agreed set of Centres of Excellence. These Centres of Excellence will provide the Customer access to subject matter experts, tools, accelerators and access to external partnerships to enable the Service Provider to design, deliver and implement (incl. integration) application changes and Change Projects into production. The Centres of Excellence will drive a continuous learning and improvement agenda to provide the Customer with ongoing improved quality, speed to market and better business outcomes.

Centres of Excellence. In collaboration with Oil and Gas Technology Centre (OGTC) and other stakeholders, the university has been selected to lead the launch of a Subsea and Underwater Centre of Excellence. This is a multi-disciplined academic and industrial research and development centre focused on underwater technologies, crucial to the future of the oil and industry. • International priorities: In addressing the Japanese Government’s need to raise the number of offshore engineers five-fold, the university has signed a Letter of Intent to collaborate in areas of strategic significance in ocean innovation. The university will deliver a 3rd Summer School for the Japan Nippon Foundation in AY2018/19. This is just one example of the university’s wide range of commercial bespoke CPD arrangements. • Relationships with business: the university’s solid performance in relation to KTPs and its growing number of Innovation Vouchers are the result of carefully managed relationships with businesses in the region and further afield. These relationships are also crucial to the provision of in-course placements and work related experiences. The university also engages with relevant sector bodies and businesses in the creation of course content, guest lecturers and visiting lecturer positions. The UK’s departure from the EU The UK’s departure from the EU has the potential to have a significant effect on the university. The university is host to a large number of EU nationals both as staff and students of the university. The university acknowledges the Scottish Government’s continued support to EU students in terms of continuing to recognise them as Home students for the purposes of funding arrangements. The university and many of its staff who are EU nationals still have concerns regarding the process by which individuals will be able to remain resident and employed within Scotland. There are clearly impacts on the university’s participation in the Erasmus scheme which, in turn, will negatively impact on student mobility. The university is already seeking to extend the range of international exchange opportunities as part of its continued enhancement of students’ employability. The university has sought to grow its research income in part through applications to EU funds. As such the university welcomes the suggestion the UK universities will seek to have access to such programmes.
