Cease Work Clause Samples

The Cease Work clause allows one party, typically the client or project owner, to instruct the contractor or service provider to stop work on a project, either temporarily or permanently. In practice, this clause outlines the process for issuing a stop-work order, the obligations of the contractor to halt activities, and the handling of costs or compensation for work performed up to the cessation point. Its core function is to provide a clear mechanism for pausing or ending work in response to changing circumstances, thereby managing risk and preventing unnecessary expenditure.
