Casual Teacher. The minimum rate of pay for a Casual Teacher shall be the applicable rate set out in the Table 1B in Pay Schedule 1 of Part G - Monetary Rates which is inclusive of a 5% loading and is in compensation for annual leave, leave loading, personal/carers leave and redundancy payments. Casual rates have been calculated by dividing the annual rate by 204 for a Full Day and by 408 for a Half Day and in each case adding 5%. The Teacher will be placed on Graduate or Proficient in accordance with their classification pursuant to Clause 7- Classifications. These rates include the pro rata payment in respect of annual leave pursuant to the National Employment Standards.

The Teacher will be pl aced on B and 1 or Band 2 i n accordance with their classification pursuant to Clause 7 – Classifications provided the Casual Teacher employed for the first time prior to October 2004 will be deemed to be Band 2 if the Teacher has two or more years of full-time equivalent teacher service. Casual Teacher a) A casual teacher shall be paid a proportion of the wage prescribed in Section 13, according to the relevant fortnightly rate divided by 75 with an additional 25% loading plus payments made for preparation and other duties on the ratio of one hour for every five hours in charge of children.   • Non-Tenured Teachers A leave may be granted to a non-tenured teacher by action of the Board of Education, subject to all the conditions applicable to a tenured teacher. However, for a school term to count toward the attainment of tenure, the non-tenured teacher must work at least one hundred twenty (120) full time employment days. A school term that is not counted toward attainment of tenure shall not be considered a break in service for purposes of determining whether the non- tenured teacher has been employed for the period of time necessary to attain tenure, provided that the non-tenured teacher actually teaches or is otherwise present and participating in District 34’s educational program in the following school term. The granting of maternity leave to any non-tenured teacher shall not constitute a precedent for the granting or withholding of leave to any other non-tenured teacher. Each request shall be judged on its own merits and shall be within the sole discretion of the Board. Additional conditions or restrictions may be established for any such leave, provided nothing herein shall be construed as requiring any non-tenured teacher to apply for such leave or accept the conditions established therefore.

For the purpose of this clause, any reference to the governing body of a maintained school in such statutory and regulatory provisions, or in any guidance and code of practice issued pursuant to such provisions, shall be deemed to be references to the Governing Body of the Academy Trust.
