Common use of Candidacy Clause in Contracts

Candidacy. During the period of Candidacy, which normally extends up to three years beyond Pre-Candidacy, the eligibility of a librarian and archivist for continuing appointment is determined. Librarians and archivists appointed at the rank of Associate or Senior Librarians will enter Candidacy upon appointment, unless an agreement to the contrary has been reached between the ▇▇▇▇, University Libraries/▇▇▇▇, Fac- ulty of Law and the candidate upon appointment. Proceed- ings concerning consideration for continuing appointment of a librarian and archivist may be initiated at any time after one year of Candidacy, but must be initiated by 1 March of the second year of Candidacy. Librarians and archivists who are in the Candidacy period and hold the rank of Assistant Librarian may also normally be reviewed for promotion to the rank of Associate Librar- ▇▇▇ during the Candidacy period. A normal expectation of promotion to the rank of Associate Librarian would be after three to six years in the rank of Assistant Librarian.
