Common use of Break Periods Clause in Contracts

Break Periods. a) Permanent full-time employees will be permitted a fifteen (15) minute rest period in each half of the normal scheduled day at a time to be decided by the Employer. Rest periods will only be scheduled within the first or last hour of the work day in exceptional circumstances. These exceptional circumstances must have the approval of the Superintendent of Human Resources.

Part-time and temporary employees scheduled to work eight (8) hours or more in a day shall be provided similar rest period in each half of the normal scheduled day at a time to be decided by the Employerperiods. Rest periods will only shall be scheduled within arranged by the first department head or last hour of immediate supervisor in the work day in exceptional circumstances. These exceptional circumstances must have the approval of the Superintendent of Human Resourcesmanner most compatible with departmental operations.
