Blood Donation. Whenever an employee is called by a Blood Bank to donate blood during the work day as a result of a medical emergency requiring immediate transfusion, rather than blood replacement, that employee shall have the remainder of the day off without loss of pay.

Blood Donation. It is the policy of the state to support the participation of Unit 10 employees in donating blood, plasma, platelets and other blood products to certified donation centers, including certified mobile facilities. Any Unit 10 employee may be allowed paid leave to make these donations.
Blood Donation. On the occasion when Canadian Blood Services directly contacts an employee during normal business hours for the purpose of blood donation and, the urgency associated with the need to donate is immediate and cannot be done outside of the employee’s normal hours of work, the Employer will grant the necessary time-off without loss of pay. It is agreed, the Employer may contact the Canadian Blood Service to verify the urgency of their request.

Blood Donation. 86.1 An employee can take up to two (2) hours away from duty during their ordinary work hours to donate blood, plasma, or platelets. It includes reasonable travel time and employers will consider employees on duty.
Blood Donation. Upon advance request by the employee to the supervisor, an employee donating blood without compensation will be granted administrative leave of up to four (4) hours for such donation. The employee is not permitted to go home after the donation unless they feel sick and request additional leave (i.e. sick, annual, LWOP, compensatory time, or credit hours). An employee who is not accepted for donating blood shall only be entitled to travel time to and from the donation site and the time needed to make such determination. The supervisor may request that the employee supply him or her with appropriate documentation from the donation site.
Blood Donation. Workload permitting, Employees who volunteer as blood donors either to blood banks without compensation, or directly to individuals, may be excused for the time necessary for this purpose without charge to leave or loss of pay. An Employee donating blood at an off-hospital facility shall inform his/her supervisor within a reasonable time in advance of his/her intent to donate blood, except in emergency situations, which preclude advance notification. Employees will go directly to the designated blood bank or hospital. The receptionist or nurse will annotate the Employee’s arrival and departure time. Employees who are unable to donate blood will return directly to work or be charged leave. Normally, the maximum excused absence shall not exceed two hours when the donation is on-site, but may be up to four hours for donation off-site when other special circumstances apply.
