Bilingual Pay Differential. The Chief Executive Officer or designee may approve differential payments of one hundred fifty dollars ($150) per month to unit employees who have been determined to be qualified for positions requiring bilingual speaking and/or writing ability. Should the Court require more than one additional language be spoken or written, then the monthly payment shall instead be two hundred twenty-five dollars ($225). Bilingual skill payments will be made when: (a) Public contact requires continually eliciting and explaining information in a language other than English or in sign language (ASL or SEE); or (b) Translation of written material in another language is a continuous assignment. The Court shall review positions covered by this Agreement at least annually to determine the number and location of positions to be designated as requiring bilingual abilities. Differential payments for a particular position may be discontinued if the criteria above are not met for two consecutive pay periods.
