Bereavement Absence. (i) In the event of the death of a close family member of an employee, the Company will grant, upon request, a paid absence not to exceed three (3) working days, for the purpose of attending the funeral, and if necessary, making funeral arrangements. In the event that extended travel is required, the Company may grant up to two (2) additional days of paid absence with Management approval. (ii) A close family member is usually a parent, grandparent, spouse ( including common-law ), child, grandchild, daughter/son-in-law, brother or sister, brother/sister-in-law, and mother/father- in-law. (iii) The employee must contact their supervisor and advise as soon as possible if they require time off from work due to the death of a close family member.
