Bargaining Unit Work Year. (a) In the school year, there will be a maximum of one hundred and eighty-three (183) workdays, including all instructional and conference days. Any calendar changes related to the use of unused snow days or make-up days required to meet the maximum of one hundred and eighty-three (183) workdays will be added to the calendar at time satisfactory to both parties. (b) It is mutually agreed that the normal academic school year will begin immediately following Labor Day each year. However, both sides also agree that there may be unique or unusual circumstances that may require an adjustment to the schedule. Should such a situation arise there will be written notification of the situation by the District SVETA no less than sixty (60) calendar days prior to Labor Day. This notification will be followed by a face-to-face meeting and discussion of the need for such an adjustment. The meeting will include at least the following: the Superintendent of Schools, the Board of Education President, and the SVETA President or his designee.   • Performance of Bargaining Unit Work No person whose regular job is not in the bargaining unit will work on any job for which rates are established by this Agreement, except for the purposes of instruction, experimentation, or management training, in which case trainees shall not displace or replace any employee in the aforesaid classifications except in cases of emergency when regular employees are not available.
