Backed Securities Sample Clauses

Backed Securities. The Department hereby agrees and authorizes the sale of the Xxxxxx Xxx, Xxxxxx Xxx, and Xxxxxxx Xxx MBS to the entity designated by the Department in accordance with Appendix A.
Backed Securities. Asset-backed securities represent direct or indirect participations in, or are secured by and payable from, pools of assets such as, among other things, motor vehicle installment sales contracts, installment loan contracts, leases of various types of real and personal property, and receivables from revolving credit (credit card) agreements or a combination of the foregoing. These assets are securitized through the use of trusts and special purpose entities. Credit enhancements, such as various forms of cash collateral accounts or letters of credit, may support payments of principal and interest on asset-backed securities. Although these securities may be supported by letters of credit or other credit enhancements, payment of interest and principal ultimately depends upon individuals paying the underlying loans or accounts, which payment may be adversely affected by general downturns in the economy. Asset-backed securities are subject to prepayment risk. There is risk that recovery on repossessed collateral might be unavailable or inadequate to support payments on the underlying investments.
