Common use of AUTHORIZED ABSENCE Clause in Contracts

AUTHORIZED ABSENCE. Since the absence of a Bargaining Unit Member has an adverse effect on the quality of the educational program, imposes increased responsibilities on other members of the professional staff, and increases costs, it is the responsibility of each Bargaining Unit Member to avoid unnecessary tardiness or absence. The provisions hereinafter set forth are not intended to reduce the professional responsibilities of a Bargaining Unit Member nor to provide a form of additional compensation. Rather they are intended to meet the humanitarian and legitimate needs of the Bargaining Unit Members in a manner consistent with the requirements of the educational program and they shall be so applied and interpreted.
