The 'Attendance at School' clause establishes the requirement for a student to be present at school during designated times or according to a set schedule. Attendance at School. (a) No Apprentice shall be granted time-off for trade school training until such time as they have completed six (6) months continuous service as an apprentice.
(b) A Regular or Sessional Employee in the apprenticeship program attending school as required by the Industry and Apprenticeship Training Act shall be deemed to be on leave of absence with pay. This Article shall not apply to Apprentices hired under Article 50.01(a).
(c) It is expected that regular or sessional Employees, upon completion of the apprenticeship program, will be required to work for the Board for a period of twenty-four (24) months. If the Regular or Sessional Employee voluntarily leaves the service of the Board within twenty-four (24) months of receiving funding under this program, they will be required to refund a portion of the funding on the following basis: The full amount of the salary plus benefits paid by the Board less an amount equal to one twenty-fourth (1/24) for each full month employed less than the two (2) years from the date of the completion of their apprenticeship program.

(a) The first week of each such absence shall be compensated for by using accumulated vacation entitlement and/or compensating time off owing, if any, for accumulated overtime.
(b) During the remainder of the time off required to attend school, the Apprentice, upon submission to the University of evidence of the amount of remuneration under the Apprenticeship and Industry Training Act, shall be paid the difference between regular salary and the amounts received under the program as salary replacement.
