Assignment of Additional Hours. If additional hours are assigned to a specific program or position type, employees in a like position that is less than full time and whose schedule can accommodate the additional hours will be offered the additional hours in order of their seniority. If no employee in a like position can or will accept the additional hours, the hours first will be offered in seniority order to other employees at the College whose schedule can accommodate the assignment and who are qualified for the assignment as determined by the College. If hours designated to specific positions or position types are reduced, the least senior employee(s) shall be the first to be affected unless such reduction is due to a College reduction-in-force or layoff which would be implemented under the provisions of Article 18 Layoff and Recall.

If hours designated to specific positions or position types in a building are reduced, the least senior employee(s) shall be the first to be affected unless such reduction is due to District reduction-in-force or layoff which would be implemented under the provisions of Section 10.6. Additional or new positions to a facility will be handled under the provisions of Section 5.6.
Assignment of Additional Hours. When time is added to a building or program the principal/program manager will first notify the employees in the affected program/classroom in order of seniority. Those interested shall notify the principal/program manager of such interest. The additional time will be offered first to the employee in the affected program/classroom and then, to the employee with the most building/workgroup seniority provided that person is qualified and available, and student and program needs are met. Time assigned through this procedure shall not be considered continuing hours for the purpose of assigning hours for the coming school year if such time is assigned after October 15th, assigned due to a class size remedy, or other conditions of a temporary nature. This provision shall not apply if such time is assigned from the building preference pool. If a disagreement occurs over the time assigned and cannot be resolved through informal discussions between the Union and the District, the issue may be subject to the grievance procedure in this Agreement.
Assignment of Additional Hours. 1. Adult School teachers will be selected for additional teaching hours based on staffing needs as determined by the principal, using the following criteria:
Assignment of Additional Hours. Work hours available due to occasional absences of employees as a result of illness, personal leave or other approved leaves where the employee is expected to return, will first be offered by the Kitchen Manager to permanent employees in the building, except where emergency circumstances make this impossible. If no bargaining unit employee is interested in adding the hours, then the Kitchen Manager shall call a substitute to fill the vacancy. Nothing in the Article shall be interpreted to require the staffing levels of a kitchen and/or the work hours allocated to a kitchen to be increased. If an employee has his/her hours increased due to a temporary absence, whether long or short term, such increase shall at no time entitle the employee to have his/her hours permanently increased or entitle the employee to benefits not previously available, unless the employee is permanently appointed to a position of twenty (20) hours per week or more. The Food Service Director shall have the discretion to decide whether work hours as described above will be assigned, after conferring with the Kitchen Manager. (a) Part-time employees who indicate in writing to the Employer that they wish to work additional hours, shall be offered such work, when available, provided they are qualified, trained, and able to perform the required duties (for Home Care employees this shall include but is not limited to client continuity, client specific training, gender, and/or availability of vehicle). It is understood that such additional hours shall be offered only to the extent that they will not incur any overtime costs to the Employer. Assignment of Additional Hours a) Additional hours up to the allowable straight-time maximum shall first be offered in order of seniority to regular employees within each worksite who are available. If a more senior employee declines, the hours will be offered to the next senior employee. Regular employees must indicate in writing their availability by the 7th of each month for the following calendar month with current contact information. Additional hours under Article 14.2 (e) are hours that are in addition to the regular fulltime and regular part-time employees’ regularly scheduled shifts. Regular shifts will not be rescheduled for the additional hours.
Assignment of Additional Hours. Additional hours will be offered on a fair and equitable basis. Such hours need not be offered where they result in overtime or additional premium payments.
