Applicable Family Members. For the purpose of this section, immediate family is defined to include mother, father, sister, brother, husband, wife, son, daughter, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister- in-law, grandchild, grandparent, uncle, aunt, or anyone who is living with, or considered part of the family. If an employee wishes to claim bereavement leave for a person who is “considered part of the family,” then he/she shall be required to justify in writing to the employee’s manager or director the reason(s) why this person is considered part of his/her family in advance of taking the leave.
