Aim of the Project. The aim of the project is to ensure that Okhahlamba Local Municipality is able to host its website in an offsite secure location, redevelop website, establish web portal and also receive technical support with regards to: • Editing content on the website • Amending/ upgrading the look and feel of the website • Identification and resolution of faults • Ongoing maintenance of the website • Checking the integrity of all backups of the website • Adding and removing of users on the portal of website • Changing of user’s passwords on the portal of website • And training of municipality staff of website This will allow the municipality to be provided with a communication and marketing tools who’s branding adequately reflect the values and ethos of the institution and further, whose functionality showcase the quality offerings that the institution provides.
Aim of the Project. ‌ The piperidine ring is an important moiety in pharmaceutical research and is a ubiquitous structural motif encountered in countless natural products.1,5 At present, the 1,4-disubstitution pattern on the piperidine ring prevails amongst pharmaceuticals due to shorter synthetic routes from commercial precursors and the absence of stereochemical complications. However, it has been shown that additional substituents on the piperidine and can result in compounds with increased biological activity. 31,32 The facile preparation of chiral, versatile piperidine building blocks for the synthesis of biologically active compounds is therefore of current interest. A double aza-Xxxxxxx addition of a primary amine to a divinyl ketone is an atom-efficient approach to the synthesis of substituted 4-piperidones. The initial aim of this project will be to evaluate the utility of unsubstituted ketone 178 as the electrophile in an aza-Xxxxxxx cyclisation reaction to obtain a range of N -substituted 4-piperidones 179 (Figure 1.17). Furthermore it is intended to achieve the synthesis of substituted divinyl ketones 180 and to cyclise them using the previously developed method to access racemic 2- substituted 4-piperidones 181 (Figure 1.17). By employing a suitable chiral amine for the aza-Xxxxxxx cyclisation with substituted ketones 180, it is envisioned that it will be possible to prepare separable, diastereomeric 2-substituted 4-piperidones 182 and 183 (Figure 1.17). The utility of the methodology will then be demonstrated by using the 2-substituted 4-piperidones 182 and 183 as building blocks for the synthesis of piperidine ring 2- substituted analogues 185 of the acetylcholinesterase inhibiting drug donepezil 12 (Fig- ure 1.18). The stereoselective synthesis of piperidine-substituted donepezil analogues has not been reported, despite the fact that early structure-activity relationship studies 126 showed the importance of the piperidine ring moiety for the biological activity of this drug. ∗∗ N 12 MeO O H ∗∗ * MeO O racemic donepezil * = stereocentre MeO ∗∗ ∗∗ R ∗∗ N O O *∗∗ N R R∗∗ 182or 183 N R R∗∗ 184 MeO ∗ R 185 Figure 1.18: Donepezil 379 and stereoselectively piperidine 2-substituted analogue 185. Aim of the Project. The aim of the PRISM Project is to put in motion the initial steps required to build a quantum-secured network in Malta, in line with the spirit of the EuroQCI initiative. It presents an outline plan of how a quantum communication infrastructure (QCI) can be implemented in Malta, including the location of QCI nodes, technologies that must be deployed, and use cases. The network we envisage would be the first of its kind in Europe and serve to bring Malta truly into the quantum age. To achieve this, the first quantum technologies SME in Malta will work with the University of Malta, private entities, and public authorities to focus attention the last mile integration that is required to bring quantum key distribution into the hands of end users in a convenient, secure, and standards-compliant way. This project will additionally devote most of its resources to deploy a large-scale quantum network spanning the entirety of the Maltese Islands. Further to this Malta-centric goal, by the conclusion of this project we will have at hand quantum key distribution systems that are self-contained, trustworthy, and ideally poised to be rolled out throughout the European and international markets.
