activities in the Area means all activities of exploration for, and exploitation of, the resources of the Area;

  • These freedoms shall be exercised by all States with due regard for the interests of other States in their exercise of the freedom of the high seas, and also with due regard for the rights under this Convention with respect to activities in the Area.

  • If a contractor does not promptly comply with an emergency order to prevent, contain and minimize serious harm or the threat of serious harm to the marine environment arising out of its activities in the Area, the Council shall take by itself or through arrangements with others on its behalf, such practical measures as are necessary to prevent, contain and minimize any such serious harm or threat of serious harm to the marine environment.

  • States Parties shall have the responsibility to ensure that activities in the Area, whether carried out by States Parties, or state enterprises or natural or juridical persons which possess the nationality of States Parties or are effectively controlled by them or their nationals, shall be carried out in conformity with this Part.

  • The same responsibility applies to international organizations for activities in the Area carried out by such organizations.

  • Other activities in the marine environment shall be conducted with reasonable regard for activities in the Area.


More Definitions of activities in the Area

activities in the Area means all activities related to the prospecting and exploration for, and exploitation of, the mineral resources of the Area. UNCLOS, supra note 8, arts. 133-34, 314. “Prospecting” is the search for minerals in the deep seabed. “Exploration” is the search for minerals in the seabed with exclusive rights. “Exploitation” is the commercial recovery of minerals in the deep seabed. For its part, the Seabed Disputes Chamber of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea further clarified that “activities in the Area” include: drilling, dredging, coring, and excavation; disposal, dumping, and discharge into the marine environment of sediment, wastes, or other effluents; and construction, operation, or maintenance of installations, pipelines, and other devices related to such activities. Related to activities in the Area

  • Activities of daily living means at least bathing, continence, dressing, eating, toileting and transferring.

  • Activities of Daily Living (ADL means the following:

  • Activities has the meaning specified in Section 7.02(b).

  • Loss of Activities of Daily Living means that, due to an Injury or Sickness, the Insured Employee has lost the ability to safely and completely perform two or more of the following six Activities of Daily Living without another person's active, hands-on help with all or most of the activity.

  • Agricultural activities means agricultural uses and practices including, but not limited to: Producing, breeding, or increasing agricultural products; rotating and changing agricultural crops; allowing land used for agricultural activities to lie fallow in which it is plowed and tilled but left unseeded; allowing land used for agricultural activities to lie dormant as a result of adverse agricultural market conditions; allowing land used for agricultural activities to lie dormant because the land is enrolled in a local, state, or federal conservation program, or the land is subject to a conservation easement; conducting agricultural operations; maintaining, repairing, and replacing agricultural equipment; maintaining, repairing, and replacing agricultural facilities, provided that the replacement facility is no closer to the shoreline than the original facility; and maintaining agricultural lands under production or cultivation;

  • Motor Sport Activities means any motor sport activities or Recreational Services which are permitted or approved which CAMS regulates or administers by CAMS or otherwise under the responsibility / control of CAMS;

  • Construction Activities means the disturbance of soils associated with clearing, grading, excavation activities or other construction-related activities.

  • Complex means the group of registered investment companies for which Prudential Investments Fund Management LLC serves as Manager; provided, however, that with respect to Access Persons of the Subadviser (including any unit or subdivision thereof), "Complex" means the group of registered investment companies in the Complex advised by the Subadviser or unit or subdivision thereof. A list of such registered investment companies will be maintained by the Compliance Officer.

  • Motorsport Activities means any motorsport activities or Recreational Services which are permitted or approved which Motorsport Australia regulates or administers or otherwise are under the responsibility / control of Motorsport Australia;

  • Unsuitable for Its Permitted Use means a state or condition of the Hotel such that (a) following any damage or destruction involving the Hotel, the Hotel cannot be operated in the reasonable judgment of Tenant on a commercially practicable basis for its Permitted Use and it cannot reasonably be expected to be restored to substantially the same condition as existed immediately before such damage or destruction, and as otherwise required by Section 10.2.4, within nine (9) months following such damage or destruction or such shorter period of time as to which business interruption insurance is available to cover Rent and other costs related to the Leased Property following such damage or destruction, or (b) as the result of a partial taking by Condemnation, the Hotel cannot be operated, in the reasonable judgment of Tenant on a commercially and economically practicable basis for its Permitted Use in light of then existing circumstances.

  • Idle facilities means completely unused facilities that are excess to the governmental unit's current needs.

  • Permitted Activities The primary activities of the trust created pursuant to this Agreement which shall be:

  • Permitted Uses means a use, listed in a permitted use table, that shall be approved with or without conditions provided the requirements and regulations of Zoning By-law No. 4404, as amended, are satisfied;

  • Public facilities means amenities that are—

  • Economic activities shall in principle include activities of an industrial, commercial and professional character and activities of craftsmen;

Business purposes are:

  • Instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) means routine activities performed around the home or in the community and includes the following:

  • Business Activities shall be deemed to include any activities which are included in the Company's Business now or during the effective period of this Agreement.

  • Project Facilities means the facilities, equipment and vehicles provided under the Project;

  • Operations Plan means the document by which PURCHASER notifies STATE of the plans and schedule for completing the operations described in the contract. It also contains the names of the subcontractors, PURCHASER's Authorized Representatives, and STATE's Authorized Representatives. Permit means any permit required by a federal, state, or local government agency before operations under this contract may lawfully begin or continue. Permit includes an incidental take permit under the federal Endangered Species Act.

  • Communication Facilities means video, video-conferencing, internet or online conferencing applications, telephone or tele-conferencing and/or any other video-communications, internet or online conferencing application or telecommunications facilities by means of which all Persons participating in a meeting are capable of hearing and being heard by each other;

  • Exploration Operations means operations conducted in the Contract Area pursuant to this Contract in searching for Petroleum and in the course of an Appraisal Programme and shall include but not be limited to aerial, geological, geophysical, geochemical, palaeontological, palynological, topographical and seismic surveys, analysis, studies and their interpretation, investigations relating to the subsurface geology including structural test drilling, stratigraphic test drilling, drilling of Exploration Xxxxx and Appraisal Xxxxx and other related activities such as surveying, drill site preparation and all work necessarily connected therewith that is conducted in connection with Petroleum exploration.

  • Project Activities means the activities to be undertaken or Works to be delivered or Property to be contributed or provided by you, your approved Sub-Grantees or your approved sub- contractors as summarised in the Particulars and more particularly described in the Agreed Proposal for which Xxxxx is payable under this Agreement;
