Accumulative Benefits. All employees shall be provided sick leave benefits as set forth in Iowa Code Section 279.40. Employees hired prior to the commencement of the school year shall be entitled to ten (10) sick leave days as of the first official day of said school year even though they are unable to report for duty on that day due to physical or mental illness. Employees who are hired and who begin work after commencement of the school year shall receive sick leave benefits prorated (on an annual basis of ten (10) days of sick leave for a full school year) to the date on which they are scheduled to report for duty. Unused sick leave days shall be accumulated from year to year with a maximum of one hundred thirty (130) days. Accumulative Benefits. All employees shall be granted one hundred twenty (120) hours with pay each school year as of the first official day of the contact year. Unused sick leave shall be accumulated from year to year to a total of 1440 hours. (i.e., 15 days = 120 hours - 180 days = 1440 hours.) The school year shall be from July 1 to June 30. Employees will accrue hours in the same ratio as to the hours they work in a day. Example: Employees that are scheduled to work 5 hours per day will receive 75 hours per year, employees scheduled to work 4 hours per day will receive 60 hours per year, etc. Beginning with the 2009-10 contract, the maximum accumulation for full-time 12-month employees will be 2080 hours.
