ACCUMULATION VALUE. Accumulation Value (a) is the number of Accumulation Units credited to this contract for that particular Variable Investment Option; and (b) is the then current Accumulation Unit value for that Variable Investment Option. This contract does not have any Accumulation Value on or after the Annuity Commencement Date. If for any reason the Accumulation Value reaches zero, you will not be able to allocate premiums into this contract in order to reestablish a positive Accumulation Value. Amounts allocated or transferred to a Variable Investment Option before the Annuity Commencement Date are used to purchase Accumulation Units. Accumulation Units are redeemed and cancelled when amounts are deducted, withdrawn, or transferred from a Variable Investment Option. The number of Accumulation Units purchased or redeemed in a Variable Investment Option equals (a) divided by (b), where: (a) is the dollar value of the transaction; and (b) is the value of an Accumulation Unit for the applicable Variable Investment Option as of the end of the Valuation Date on which the transaction is processed.

Amounts allocated or transferred to a Variable Investment Option before the Annuity Commencement Date are used to purchase Accumulation Units. Accumulation Units are redeemed and cancelled when amounts are deducted, withdrawn, or transferred from a Variable Investment Option. The number of Accumulation Units purchased or redeemed in a Variable Investment Option equals (a) divided by (b), where:
(a) is the dollar value of the transaction; and
(b) is the value of an Accumulation Unit for the applicable Variable Investment Option as of the end of the Valuation Date on which the transaction is processed.
