7 . UNIFORM ALLOWANCE. The City shall furnish the initial uniform and necessary equipment to each sworn Police employeeand replace uniform items which are no longer serviceable. The administration of this program is contained in Administrative Regulation 3.B.7. The City shall provide $700 per year for uniformed personnel w ho have successfully completedt heir initial probation and $800 per year for non-uniformed personnel w c ompleted their initial probation as a uniform and equipment allowance.ho have successfully E ffective January 1,2021, all members of the bargaining unit shall be provided $800 for uniform allowance. Theuniform allowance, which shall begin to be paid in the first pay period after being hired as a Police Officer shall be paid 1/26th of the annual amount each pay period. In addition to these amounts,the City will replace or repair the uniforms of uniformed personnel whose uniforms are damaged o r destroyed in the course of performing their duties. I n calendar years in which there are 27 pay periods, employees shall not receive the uniform allowance payment for the 27th pay period.The allowance shall be paid annually in January (for the upcoming year) of each year, except thatemployees who successfully complete their initial probation during the course of a calendar yearshall receive a pro-rata share of the annual allowance for that year. For example, an employeew ho successfully completes probation on October 1, and is entitled to the $700 per yearallowance shall then receive a $175 allowance for that year and an additional $700 allowance for t he next year. 1 91 8. OVERTIME/ WORK HOURS Police personnel shall earn overtime when required to work holidays, normally scheduled days off, in excess of their normal daily work hours, or in excess of their prescribed work period. Whether an employee shall be paid overtime compensation or accrue compensatory time off shall be determined by the Police Chief or his/her designee. The maximum amount of compensatory time off an employee can accrue is 160 hours (i.e.,106.66 hours of overtime accrued as compensatory time off at time and one half is 160 hours). An employee may use his/her accrued compensatory time off by providing reasonable notice. A request to use compensatory time off which was requested with reasonable notice will not bedenied unless the request would be unduly disruptive to the department.
