Leave of Absence definition

Leave of Absence means absent from work with permission.
Leave of Absence means any period during which an employee does not receive (i) compensation for employment, (ii) service credit towards pension benefits, and (iii) health insurance benefits paid for by the employer.

Examples of Leave of Absence in a sentence

  • Leave of absence without loss of pay and benefits will be provided to an employee summoned to serve on a jury or when subpoenaed or summoned as a witness in a criminal or civil proceeding not occasioned by the employee's private affairs, or when the employee accompanies a dependent child when the child is subpoenaed or summoned to appear as a witness in a criminal or civil proceeding.

  • Leave of absence with pay shall be granted for up to seven (7) employees to attend negotiations on behalf of the Union.

  • Leave of absence, without pay, for the purposes of further education directly related to the nurse's employment with the Hospital may be granted on written application by the nurse to the Director of Nursing or her designate.

  • Leave of absence without pay, but without loss of benefits, shall be allowed employees to attend Executive and Committee meetings of CUPE, its affiliated or chartered bodies and any labour organizations with which the Union is affiliated, provided that no more than two (2) employees are affected and maximum total of sixteen (16) days.

  • Leave of absence under this provision shall be in addition to the Association leave provided in Article above.
