They include: 47 CFR 25.213(a)(2): “Mobile Satellite Service space stations transmitting in the 1613.8-1626.5 MHz band shall take whatever steps necessary to avoid causing harmful interference to [list of observatories, including Arecibo Radio Observatory] during periods of observation.” 47 CFR 25.213(a)(4): “The Radio Astronomy Service shall avoid scheduling radio astronomy observations during peak MSS/RDSS traffic periods to the greatest extent practicable.” 6 The National Astronomy and Ionosphere Center is operated by Cornell University under a Cooperative Agreement with the National Science Foundation.
