Totally Disabled definition

Totally Disabled means that because of an injury or illness:
Totally Disabled means a member’s inability to engage in substantial gainful activity by reason of any medically determined physical or mental impairment that can be expected to result in death or that has lasted or can be expected to last for a continuous period of not less than 12 months. For purposes of this subdivision:
Totally Disabled or “Total Disability” means your inability, solely due to Sickness or Injury to perform all the duties of your occupation. After you have been Totally Disabled for 12 continuous months (plus any Elimination Waiting Period), Total Disability means your inability solely due to Sickness or Injury, to perform all duties of any occupation for which you are or can become reasonably qualified by virtue of your education, training, or experience. You are not Totally Disabled if you are working full or part time or if you have retired. Lack of work does not constitute Total Disability or entitle you to Insured Monthly Payments.

  • Insurance will not be affected by termination or amendment of the Group Policy after you become Totally Disabled.

  • We will refund up to 12 months of the premiums that were paid for Insurance after the date you become Totally Disabled.

  • The amount of Insurance eligible for Waiver Of Premium is the amount in effect on the day before you become Totally Disabled.

  • Insurance will be reduced or terminated according to the Group Policy provisions in effect on the day before you become Totally Disabled.

  • Waiting Period means the 180 consecutive day period beginning on the date you become Totally Disabled.


More Definitions of Totally Disabled

Totally Disabled means that because of injury or sickness, the Executive is unable to perform his duties. The benefits, if any, payable to the Executive or his beneficiary(ies) or estate relating to his death or disability shall be determined solely by such benefit plans or arrangements as the Corporation or the Bank may have with the Executive relating to death or disability, not this Agreement.
Totally Disabled means the complete inability of an Employee to substantially perform the important daily duties of the Employee ‘s own occupation, for which the Employee is reasonably suited by education, training or experience. A Dependent who is Totally Disabled means that the Dependent is prevented solely because of a non-occupational Injury ornon-occupational Illness from engaging in all of the normal activities of a person of like age and sex and in good health. A Dependent Child or grandchild will be considered Totally Disabled if they are incapable of self-support because of developmental disability or physical handicap. The Third Party Administrator may require proof of continuing Total Disability from time to time.
Totally Disabled means that Executive suffers from Total Disability (and Executive will be deemed to continue to be Totally Disabled so long as Executive is not able to work in Executive’s Own Occupation even if Executive works in some other capacity).
